Who knew the air fryer could make “boiled” eggs so easy? Forget worrying about cracked shells or timing on the stovetop—this method produces tender, easy-to-peel eggs every time. From jammy yolks for ramen to fully set eggs for meal prep, the air fryer handles it all. One of those “why didn’t I try this sooner?” kitchen tricks that quickly becomes a go-to.
Ingredients
- Eggs — any size (large is standard)
- Ice Cubes — for cooling
- Cold Water — for the ice bath
- Salt, Pepper, or Seasonings — optional
Equipment
- Air Fryer — preheated
- Heat-Safe Bowl — for the ice bath
- Slotted Spoon or Tongs — for safe handling
Instructions
1. Preheat the Air Fryer
Set to 270°F (130°C). If your model runs cooler, go for 275°F (135°C). Preheat 2–3 minutes.
2. Arrange the Eggs
Place eggs in a single layer with space between them so air can circulate evenly.
3. Set the Time
- Soft-boiled (runny yolk): 9–10 minutes
- Medium-boiled (jammy yolk): 11–12 minutes
- Hard-boiled (fully set): 13–15 minutes
- No flipping or checking needed—the air fryer does the work.
4. Ice Bath
Immediately transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water. Chill at least 5 minutes to stop cooking, preserve color, and make peeling easier.
5. Peel & Serve
Gently tap eggs, roll to loosen shells, and peel under cool running water. Season with salt and pepper, or get creative with spices and dips.
